Third-generation e-reader replaces Harry Potter as Amazon s best-selling product ever

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (book seven of the Harry potter series) as the best-selling product in Amazon's history.
The Christmas period has been a bumper season for the Kindle. On Christmas Day in 2010 "more people turned on new Kindles for the first time, downloaded more Kindle Buy Once, Read Everywhere apps, and purchased more Kindle books than on any other day in history" said Amazon in a December 27 press release.
While Kindle sales might be on the rise, Amazon says they are not eating into the tablet market. E-reader price wars have established a low entry-level price point for the electronic reading devices (the Kindle sells for $139), meaning that many consumers don't have to decide between an e-reader and a tablet.
"We're seeing that many of the people who are buying Kindles also own an LCD tablet," said Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com founder and CEO.
"Customers report using their LCD tablets for games, movies, and web browsing and their Kindles for reading sessions."
