In 1938 Stalin brought Beria to Moscow as head of the NKVD (the Secret Police). From this time on, Beria helped the Party through the war and supervised the Soviet bomb project. After the war Beria supervised the establishment of Communist satellite regimes in Eastern bloc countries such as Poland, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria and so on.

We instantly recognised this signature striped design. Not only does the monochrome pattern look super stylish, but it also incorporates a ‘Cloudfoam' sole that is so cushioned it's guaranteed to keep your feet comfortable all day long.

"Comrade Stalin, having become Secretary-General, has unlimited authority concentrated in his hands, and I am not sure whether he will always be capable of using that authority with sufficient caution. Comrade Trotsky, on the other hand, as his struggle against the C.C. on the question of the People's Commissariat of Communications has already proved, is distinguished not only by outstanding ability. He is personally perhaps the most capable man in the present C.C. [Central Committee], but he has displayed excessive self-assurance and shown excessive preoccupation with the purely administrative side of the work"

A bit of an annoyance
We don't use it for special dinners any more. Those dinners have been mostly taken over by our daughters and the tradition of using that silver has fallen away. Silverware is a bit annoying, anyway: it's beautiful, but it tarnishes and needs polishing. Too much trouble and often not enough settings for the dinners anyway.

Luxury! As well as her infamous brown leather sofas and green velvet cushions, the reality star also has a Fortnum & Mason basket with with plush blankets and a wood bookcase filled with family pictures

Want to try them for yourself? For a limited time, CDKeys has Command & Conquer: The Ultimate Collect for $5.19. That nets you a whopping 17 games, including my all-time favorite, Generals. Note that you'll need an EA Origin account and the Origin desktop client in order to play the games.

Meanwhile, Rihanna previously announced her Clara Lionel Foundation is providing $5 million (£4million) in grants to people working against COVID-19 on the frontline and she and Jay-Z followed that up with another $1 million (£818,000) each to fight coronavirus.

Vitamix is the Peloton of blenders. The Sonos. The Apple. It's the top-tier, premium brand in the blender market, with prices to match and rare discounts. That's what makes this deal especially exciting: For a limited time, and while supplies last, the Certified Reconditioned Vitamix Next Generation blender drops to $279.95 when you add it to your cart. That includes a monster five-year warranty. Original price (for the refurb): $439.95.

Back to it: During lockdown, Ellie's boyfriend Nat had been replacing her sibling on the sofa and was a huge hit with fans, yet more recently, Izzi returned to the show and made sure she remained 2m (6ft 6in) apart from her sister

It might have been because she had first given it to her son, my father. My mother used that silver for special family dinners - Thanksgiving and Christmas. When my wife and I took over those get togethers, it was natural to pass the silver to us and we have had it ever since.

I do know that unlike some Vitamix models, this one employs a low-profile design, meaning it should fit under most kitchen cabinets. It offers 10 variable speeds and a dishwasher-safe lid and container.

I have my grandmother's silver, which we never use. It is monogrammed like yours is, with a letter that has never been any part of my own initials. My daughter is only 13, but I figure if I start now, I can manipulate her lovelife so she'll marry someone who's last name starts with an "H!" Wish me luck! Seriously, though, it is kinda cool to have that "H" on the silver because it reminds me of that side of my heritage.

In my younger days I spent many a happy hour building bases, managing resources and launching attacks in the various Command & Conquer games. (Followed by plenty of unhappy minutes watching my enemies wipe everything out; I was never very good at real-time strategy.)

* Overseeing Stalin's 'forced collectivisation' programme -whereby peasant farms were compulsorily seized and used by the state (forcing the tenants into poverty and starvation). Peasants (kulaks) who resisted were sent off to forced labour camps, where they often died.

I have my mothers silver which was given to me when I was 18. I treasure it as I lost my mother when I was 3. I have used it a few times but mainly it sits in the bottom of my china cabinet. When I do think now about using it I don't because it is such a pain to clean.

I looked up the Creations Elite, and it appears to come with a 48-ounce container, not the 64-ounce one that's included here. So, yeah: I'm confused. Maybe the bases are all the same, but the included accessories vary a bit?
