Since I did this hub my life changed and I moved from my home into a smaller home In another city. My new kitchen had very little room for food and dishes. The armorie that was once my desk as turned into a pantry.

Here is our finished armoire. I put all my desk items in it. It holds a huge amount of stuff with the two extra shelves. I add boxes, baskets, or plastic containers to put things in. If it were open all the time where people could see it I would make it look better with matching boxes or baskets etc. It's in our bedroom office area where no one goes and it's behind a door. I used what containers I had around the house. The armoire holds lots of stuff just about all my disk and computer items.

Wonderful hub, moonlake! I love old armoires and will soon be inheriting a 150 year old antique armoire from my grandmother. She has used it for storing many things over the years, mainly clothes and craft items. Voted up and useful!

I think you can save so much by upcycling sturdy used furniture. I know this one belonged to you from the start, but sometimes it's possible to get good furniture at yard sales and thrift stores too, and turn them into something useful and beautiful for just a little expense compared to buying something new, and a piece of furniture you've redone yourself often adds so much more character to your home.

Use one in a little girl's room put in all her dress up clothes. Make it hers by adding stick-on flowers or if you can paint even better. This is my friend's old one she had her television in it at one time. She has now turned it into a place to put her sewing machine. Works great in her sewing room and she can close it away. My pictures aren't the best I was trying to take them with my phone camera. It does give you an idea of what you can do if you need a place for your sewing machine.

I see armoires all the time at yard sales. They can't be used for television like they once could. Only the smaller flat screen televisions will fit into them. I still use one in my bedroom for a thirty-inch television. The bigger screens just won't fit.

GW: You known, some military men have huge ego.  After Gen. Horatio Gates won the victory over Gen. John Burgoyne's British Army in Saratoga, New York in October 1777, Gates got big-headed.  Some people in America started saying that Gates should replace me.  I learned later that he didn't really do much at Saratoga.  It was due to the brilliance of Gen. Benedict Arnold.  Yeah, that traitor Arnold.  But Gates got all the credit, and it made Arnold quit on America and went over to the British side.  Later on, Gates got the assignment in the South, and he was really jacked up.  But he and his troops were routed by the British Army led by Gen. Cornwallis in Camden, South Carolina in 1780.  That pretty much ended his ambition to replace me. In the end, I remained the supreme commander of the Continental Army throughout the Revolutionary War and got to see Cornwallis' army surrender at Yorktown in October1781.
